Raman Bharatula is a registered patent attorney, focusing his practice on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation in the electronic and software arts. Raman also has experience with trademark and copyright prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
Having drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patents and patent applications for large corporations and emerging companies, Raman’s patent prosecution and counseling experience includes both domestic and foreign patent portfolio and docket management, drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, counseling clients on patentability and freedom to operate, and performing IP due diligence for corporate transactions.
Raman has also litigated patents in multiple districts around the country. His patent litigation experience includes drafting pleadings, motions, claim construction briefs, summary judgment motions, and appeal briefs. He also has experience preparing witnesses, defending depositions, working with and defending expert witnesses, managing discovery, and drafting and reviewing settlement agreements.
Through both his career as a patent attorney and his prior experience as an engineer, Raman has gained strong technical knowledge in the areas of wireless telecommunication and RF design, audio and signal processing, medical devices, software, virtual machine platforms, mobile and wireless applications, software testing, network and web security, storage and networking devices, autonomous driving systems, laboratory analytical equipment, chromatography systems, automated manufacturing systems, semiconductor design and manufacturing, and solar technologies.
Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Raman was a senior associate in the Boston area office of a national IP boutique law firm. Before that, Raman practiced in the Boston office of two large international general practice law firms.
