Allan Muir's labor and employment practice generally focuses on advice and counsel to employers, labor union negotiations, workers' compensation defense, and administrative proceedings before the Maine Bureau of Insurance. Since coming to Pierce Atwood in 1993, Allan has maintained an active workers' compensation defense practice, while adding workers' compensation expertise to matters involving reasonable accomomodations, leave, insurance, and loss control. He represents Maine's largest workers' compensation insurer before the Maine Bureau of Insurance. Finally, Allan maintains an active and long-standing practice advising and assisting hospital clients in union labor contract negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, and charges files with the National Labor Relations Board.

Allan has covered many miles since graduating from Dartmouth College in 1977 and the University of Oregon School of Law in 1982. He began his career with the Portland, Oregon law firm of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 1982, where he specialized in workers' compensation law and appellate practice. He moved to Maine in 1988 and spent the next five years with a mid-sized Portland firm representing employers and insurers in workers' compensation claims before moving to Pierce Atwood in 1993. In his free time, Allan enjoys playing the bagpipes with the Dunlap Highland Band, running and racing on the track and roads while still able, and travel with his wife and children.
