Peter A. Hale

Peter Hale is an experienced employment law attorney providing counsel and representation to employers on issues involving hiring, performance management, termination, wage and hour laws, restrictive covenants, workplace harassment, discrimination, and other evolving labor and employment issues.

Pete also advises clients with issues concerning the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, Fair Labor Standards Act, FMLA and state leave laws, non-competition and restrictive covenants, and employment agreements.

Pete is an experienced trial lawyer, having successfully tried and defended clients in a wide range of employment matters in arbitration, in state and federal courts (before both judge and jury), and in administrative agencies across the country.

Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Pete was a shareholder and former co-chair of the labor and employment group at Bernstein Shur. Before that, he was a commercial litigator at a prominent Boston-based law firm, and an employment attorney at Littler Mendelson, the world’s largest labor and employment law firm.

Before starting his law career, Pete served as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy stationed on warships based in Italy and Virginia during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

When he is not busy with his law practice, Pete loves spending time with his two daughters, enjoys running, golfing, and skiing, and is an accomplished oil painter.
