ACC Northeast and Pierce Atwood Present In-House Perspectives: Lawful DEI, Ethics & Pro Bono in Practice
Pierce Atwood is partnering with the Association of Corporate Counsel Northeast (ACC Northeast) to provide Maine CLE programming tailored for in-house counsel. In a special collaboration with the Maine Justice Action Group's Pro Bono Committee, our first program of the year will be held as a double header at our Portland office on Thursday, May 7 at 4:00 pm. This program is pending pre-approval for 1 Maine H&D CLE credit and 1 Maine Ethics CLE credit.
In the first program, Pierce Atwood partner Katy Rand will explore the evolving landscape of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). As regulatory priorities shift and scrutiny increases, many employers have moved away from group- or identity-focused initiatives, even as growing political and ideological polarization creates new workplace challenges. At the same time, the need for thoughtful, inclusive policies and practices has never been greater. Katy will examine how organizations are adapting their DEI strategies to navigate compliance obligations while continuing to foster inclusive workplaces and leverage the value of diverse perspectives.
The second program, presented by the Maine Justice Action Group’s Pro Bono Committee, will feature a panel facilitated by Marcia Levy, Director of Field Placements & Pro Bono Service at University of Maine School of Law. Panelists will share their experience designing and managing pro bono programs within corporate legal departments, including how they have navigated common barriers and realized both professional and organizational benefits. Representatives from local legal aid organizations will also be on hand to highlight available opportunities and training resources. Attendees will come away with practical insights and concrete examples of how corporate legal departments can successfully deliver legal services in their communities.
