Pierce Atwood Trusts & Estates Practice Group Recognized in 2017 Chambers High Net Worth Guide

Chambers and Partners, a prominent London-based publisher of guides to the legal profession, has recognized Pierce Atwood’s Trusts & Estates Practice Group in Maine and three of its attorneys in the 2017 edition of Chambers High Net Worth Guide.

Called “first rate in terms of technical expertise and client care,” and “my go-to [ firm] in Maine,  Pierce Atwood received a “Band 1” ranking, the highest available, for Private Wealth Law in Maine. This is the second consecutive year that the firm has received this ranking.  Recognized individually with Band 1 rankings were partners Molly Liddell and Barbara Wheaton. Also ranked this year was Practice Group Chair Cindy Worthen for Private Wealth Law in New Hampshire.

Cindy Worthen works with individuals and institutions in all aspects of estate planning, including planning across multiple generations, estate administration, and trust administration with the primary goals of transferring family wealth according to client wishes at the least possible tax cost while preserving family harmony. One commentator noted, "I think of her for some of the more emotionally difficult planning situations, whether that's doing a plan with multiple marriages and children of different marriages or prenuptial agreements. Certainly when a human touch is required I think of Cindy."

Molly Liddell was recognized for her work in planning for wealth succession and for charitable giving, as well as for assisting clients with estate planning, trust and estate administration, prenuptial agreements, guardianships and conservatorships, and tax planning.  Sources describe Molly as “a very nice, knowledgeable lawyer. She’s very good with clients and has a nice way about her." “Molly Liddell has just the right personality to help the clients," explains another local lawyer. "She is just splendid, absolutely splendid."

Barbara Wheaton was recognized for her work in estate planning, charitable gift planning and trust and estate administration, as well as her experience advising business owners, charities, individuals and fiduciaries. One commentator described Barbara as "one of the smartest attorneys I've ever worked with: a splendid technician of the law and also a very nice person. There's nothing that Barbara doesn't know, no matter how obscure the issue." Barbara works with clients in Maine and Florida.
