Pierce Atwood LLP Names New Leadership for Environmental and Energy Practices
Pierce Atwood is pleased to announce two new practice group leaders:
Lisa Gilbreath has been named Chair of Pierce Atwood’s Environmental Practice Group. Lisa works with clients on a wide range of matters involving federal, state, and local environmental permitting, regulatory enforcement proceedings, energy and environmental litigation, legislative and regulatory activities, riparian rights and production management, hazardous substances and hazardous waste management (particularly regarding PFAS), and contaminated property investigation, remediation, and litigation. Since 2022, Lisa has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® for Environmental Law, Environmental Litigation, and Land Use & Zoning Law, and was named Best Lawyers "Lawyer of the Year" in Maine for Environmental Litigation in 2023. Lisa received her J.D. from University of Kansas School of Law, Order of the Coif, her M.A. in Social Science from University of Chicago, and her B.A. cum laude in Government and Legal Studies/Environmental Studies from Bowdoin College.
Sarah Tracy has been named Chair of Pierce Atwood's Energy Practice Group, and is co-leader of the firm’s energy infrastructure practice. Sarah advises renewable energy generation facilities, large commercial energy users, and utilities on state and federal energy regulatory issues throughout New England. She also negotiates virtual power purchase, REC, and capacity agreements, and conducts due diligence for generation facility purchases and financings. Sarah was named The Best Lawyers in America® "Lawyer of the Year" in Maine for Energy Regulatory Law in 2023 and 2025. She has been recognized by Best Lawyers for Administrative/Regulatory Law, Energy Law, Energy Regulatory Law, and Utilities Law since 2019. Since 2015, Sarah has been recognized by Chambers USA for Energy & Natural Resources Law. Sarah received her J.D. cum laude from University of Connecticut School of Law, and her B.A. cum laude from Amherst College.
