Pierce Atwood Welcomes Employment Law Partner Peter A. Hale to Portland Office

Pierce Atwood is pleased to announce that experienced employment law partner Peter A. Hale has joined its Portland, Maine office.

Peter Hale represents employers on issues involving hiring, performance management, termination, wage and hour laws, restrictive covenants, workplace harassment, discrimination, and other evolving labor and employment issues. He also assists clients with issues concerning the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, Fair Labor Standards Act, FMLA and state leave laws, non-competition and restrictive covenants, and employment agreements. Pete has successfully defended business clients in a wide range of employment matters in arbitration, in state and federal courts, and before administrative agencies across the country.

Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Pete was a shareholder and former co-chair of the labor and employment group at Bernstein Shur. Before that, he was a commercial litigator at a prominent Boston-based law firm, and an employment attorney at Littler Mendelson, the world’s largest labor and employment law firm.

Before starting his law career, Pete served as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy stationed on warships based in Italy and Virginia during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Pete graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Law and received his B.A. magna cum laude from The George Washington University.
