Pierce Atwood tax attorney Olga Goldberg and trusts and estates attorney Griff Leschefske will participate in a panel discussion titled, “State Income Taxation of Trusts: Developments since Kaestner.”
The U.S. Supreme Court’s 2019 decision in North Carolina Department of Revenue v. Kimberly Rice Kaestner 1992 Family Trust was considered a significant taxpayer victory. The panel will discuss the post-Kaestner landscape, and planning tools available under trust law to improve trust administration, such as decanting, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and changes of administrative situs.
Olga Goldberg advises clients in complex state and local tax matters, including transaction planning and tax compliance. Olga’s practice covers all types of state and local taxes, including corporate income, business profits, franchise, sales and use, and property tax.
Griff Leschefske’s practice centers on estate planning, charitable giving, and probate, trust, and fiduciary litigation, in which he represents individuals, families, fiduciaries, and institutional clients in all aspects of trust and estate planning, administration, and controversy.
