Trump to Nominate Kevin McIntyre as FERC Chairman

Last night, President Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate Republican Kevin J. McIntyre to be the Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). FERC has been operating without a quorum since the departure of former Chairman Norman Bay on February 3, 2017 and the departure of Commissioner Collette Honorable on June 30, 2017.

Kevin J. McIntyre is head of the Energy Group at Jones Day, where his practice focuses on compliance and enforcement matters, energy marketing and trading, market-based rates and other competition issues, tariff compliance and administration, energy exports, and electric reliability standards. As an attorney in private practice having represented utilities and energy trading concerns, McIntyre will bring practical experience to FERC. He is on the Board of the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association, as well as the Corporate Counsel Institute of Georgetown University Law Centre. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and the Georgetown University Law Centre.
