Pierce Atwood Names Josh Dunlap and Peg Smith New Partners

Pierce Atwood is pleased to announce that Joshua D. Dunlap and Margaret G. Smith have been elevated to firm partners.

Josh Dunlap, a member of Pierce Atwood’s Litigation Group and Appellate & Amici team, has a robust complex civil litigation practice. Josh regularly defends financial institutions, retailers, and other clients in commercial matters, including consumer class actions involving issues such as bank overdrafts, products liability, and electronic data breaches. 

Josh is a former federal court of appeals law clerk, having clerked for the Hon. Paul J. Kelly Jr. on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He has also acted as law clerk for two Special Masters appointed by the U.S. Supreme Court in original jurisdiction proceedings. Josh graduated summa cum laude from University of Notre Dame Law School, where he was the Note Editor for the Notre Dame Law Review, and received his BA summa cum laude from Pensacola Christian College.

Real Estate Practice Group attorney Peg Smith handles all aspects of commercial acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, title review and analysis, and has particular expertise in drafting and analyzing conservation easements. She represents timberland and energy companies, commercial developers, nonprofit organizations, and individual clients regarding their various real estate needs. 

Peg graduated magna cum laude from Boston College law School, and received a BS in Nutrition with honors from Pennsylvania State University. She is on the Maine Advisory Board of the Trust for Public Land, which is dedicated to preserving Maine’s landscapes through community conservation programs, and serves on the editorial board for the Maine Bar Journal.
