Christopher E. Howard, a partner in the firm’s Business Practice Group, will participate in a panel discussion on the financing tools available to support economic development in rural communities. The panel will share information on small business financing, commercial development, nonprofit facilities, and other mixed use or nonhousing projects. Panelists will also provide an overview of CDC roles in economic development, as well as present examples of how some of the available tools such as NMTC, USDA products, SBA loans, CDBG, Tax Exempt Bond Financing, LISC Financial Programs, etc., have been successfully utilized.
In 1995, LISC launched Rural LISC to expand its reach beyond urban areas to include rural communities. Today, Rural LISC partners with 72 community development organizations working to transform distressed communities in 1,395 counties across 43 states.
