Cameron Goodwin to Receive Maine Justice Foundation New Lawyer Award
At the Maine State Bar Association Winter Bar Conference, firm litigation attorney Cameron Goodwin will receive the Maine Justice Foundation (MJF) New Lawyer Award.
According to MJF, this award recognizes young lawyers who, “exemplify the ideals of increasing access to justice. Recipients provide outstanding and widely recognized pro bono services or other meaningful contributions to the legal profession and the public good, demonstrating a strong commitment to the Foundation’s mission.
Cam has a long history of excellence in pro bono and is dedicated to learning and growth in the pro bono space. In 2020 he was a member of Maine’s inaugural class of the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) Fellowship Program, a one-year program in which fellows receive training in multiple pro bono practice areas.
In 2023, he received Pierce Atwood’s McKusick Community Impact Award for having a significant, positive impact through pro bono and/or community service. In the firm’s 2023 Pro Bono & Community Service Report, Cam was called, “a model of pro bono commitment. He is always willing to pitch in on matters large and small.”
Cam was recognized that year for dedicating nearly 90 hours of time to seven different pro bono matters, in parallel with his busy litigation practice. Cam’s pro bono work has included matters through the Maine VLP, Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP), and Pierce Atwood’s Racial Justice Initiative. Cam has also provided ongoing legal support to an individual asylum client navigating state benefits, and has been a Katahdin Counsel honoree.
