Karen Izzo

Karen L. Izzo is a paralegal in Pierce Atwood’s Trusts & Estates Practice Group.  She has 13 years of experience in private trust and estate practice and as a senior trust planning officer at a major Boston trust department. A retired attorney, Karen supports the firm's Trust & Estates attorneys in all phases of estate planning and administration.

Her work includes assisting attorneys in accomplishing client planning goals, reviewing trust administration requirements, and preparing probate filings, trust modifications, accountings, and guardianship matters. She also assists with decedent asset valuation, beneficiary communications, and estate and gift tax planning and returns.

Karen retired from practicing law when she changed careers to pursue teaching high school students. For 25 years, she taught high school English, and for the past 14 years she served as the grades 6-12 English Department Chair, overseeing curriculum design, faculty development, and conflict mediation while continuing to teach and mentor students.
