Pierce Atwood Announces Matt Stein Joins Partnership

Pierce Atwood LLP is proud to announce that Matthew D. Stein has joined the Partnership as of January 1, 2014. Originally from Pittsfield, Maine, and now a resident of North Yarmouth, Matt joined the firm as an associate in the Intellectual Property & Technology practice group in 2006.  

Matt practices in the firm’s Portland, Maine office and focuses his practice on three key areas: structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements relating to information technology, intellectual property and big data; trademark protection and prosecution; and privacy and data security.

Matt is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of Maine School of Law where he teaches Copyright in a Global Information Economy.

Outside of his law practice, Matt is deeply involved in the local arts community and creative economy.  He serves on the Advisory Committee for Project AWARE, a non-profit youth empowerment organization, and on the Board of Directors of One Longfellow Square, a non-profit performing arts venue in Portland.

He graduated from the University of Maine Law School, summa cum laude, in 2006, and earned his B.S. from the University of Maine, Orono, summa cum laude, in 2003.
