Katherine L. Dacey

Katy Dacey represents clients in securities and shareholder litigation, complex commercial disputes, and government and internal investigations. She advises public and private companies, boards of directors, officers, and financial institutions in high stakes matters involving securities laws, corporate governance, regulatory enforcement, and business disputes.

Katy has extensive experience defending companies and their directors and officers in shareholder litigation in state and federal courts, as well as representing underwriting syndicates in securities class actions arising from initial and secondary public offerings. She also counsels clients responding to investigations and enforcement matters conducted by regulatory agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Katy also represents businesses in a wide range of commercial disputes, including contract-related litigation and arbitration. Her investigative experience includes conducting and supporting sensitive inquiries into allegations of misconduct involving corporate, government, and organizational personnel.

Katy is also committed to pro bono service and has represented individuals through referrals from organizations dedicated to advancing access to justice and civil rights.

Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Katy was an associate in the Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice at Goodwin Procter LLP. Before that she was an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. She has also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alvin K. Hellerstein of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and as an investigative counsel to the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ethics.
