Kate is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group. Kate's practice focuses on complex business litigation, government enforcement, and securities litigation. She has represented clients that include pharmaceutical and medical device companies, global investment managers, private equity firms, a Massachusetts trust company, a venture-backed start-up company, global insurers and reinsurers, manufacturers, retailers, and a quasi-public authority.
Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Kate was an associate at Ropes & Gray LLP and also served as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office in Cambridge District Court. After law school she clerked for the Hon. Jerome J. Niedermeier, United States District Court, District of Vermont.

- Defended a medical device company under investigation for off-label promotion as well as payments to, and relationships with, a physician and hospital
- Defended specialty mail-order pharmacy under investigation for off-label promotion and Medicare Fraud
- Defended a Massachusetts trust company against a former employee in a qui tam complaint alleging market timing
- Represented venture-backed aesthetics company in arbitration against licensor
- Defended global investment management client under investigation by multiple regulatory agencies for losses attributed to subprime exposure
- Defended global reinsurance company sued by a hedge fund investor in company's exclusive retrocessionaire for alleged fraud and misrepresentation
- Participated in investigation of data breach at major retailer
- Advised quasi-public authority on third-party liability implications of various corporate structures, director liability to bondholders, and strict liability
