Katherine Kayatta Named Pierce Atwood Partner

Pierce Atwood LLP is pleased to announce that litigation attorney Katherine S. Kayatta has become a partner in the firm.

Katherine’s practice focuses on class action defense and complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. She has experience handling matters involving claims of breach of contract, unfair trade practices, shareholder rights, and other business-related torts. Katherine has represented foreign and domestic clients from a variety of industries, including energy companies, financial institutions, insurance companies, construction companies, manufacturers of consumer products, and mass transit manufacturers.

Having tried cases since she was a junior litigation associate, Katherine offers clients significant jury and bench trial experience and a history of positive outcomes for clients facing class action lawsuits.

Katherine was appointed by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court as a member of the Advisory Committee on the Maine Rules of Professional Conduct, and co-authored the Massachusetts Chapter of the Second Edition of the American Bar Association’s “A Practitioner’s Guide to Class Actions.”  She is also a frequent contributor to the firm’s First Class Defense blog, where she provides insight and analysis into First Circuit decisions on class action cases.

Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Katherine was a litigation associate with Robinson & Cole LLP in Boston and also served as a judicial intern for Chief Justice Leigh I. Saufley of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

Katherine graduated cum laude from University of Maine School of Law, where she was also a member of the Maine Law Review, and graduated cum laude from Boston College with a B.A. in History.
