$12 Million Award Vacated in ERISA Class Action

The United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit has concluded that firm client Unum Life Insurance Company's use of retained assets accounts to pay life insurance death benefits did not violate ERISA regulations.

Firm partner Donald R. Frederico, expressing satisfaction with the decision, stated that "the Court got it right." Joining Donald in representing Unum were Catherine R. Connors, Byrne J. Decker, and Gavin G. McCarthy.
