Our intellectual property work for Swedish and Finnish companies began in 1987 with the successful defense of two Pharmacia subsidiaries in a patent jury trial. Since then, our lawyers have successfully represented Pharmacia Biotech in three more trials, and have counseled a series of other companies that have spun off from Pharmacia on issues of patent enforcement, infringement, claim scope and freedom to operate in the US market. Our work for clients like GE Healthcare Biosciences, Phadia, Aerocrine, Affibody and others in the Stockholm/Uppsala region has grown to the point that Pierce Atwood opened an office in Stockholm in 2007 to facilitate communications with those clients. We also participate in SwedenBIO, the trade organization for the Swedish life science industry. Our work in the region has expanded to include biotech companies in Finland and as well as high tech companies in Sweden and Finland.
