Scott maintains a practice focused on emerging companies, early and late stage venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and public and private offerings of securities, while providing day-to-day counsel to his clients. Scott's clients have included both public and privately held software, computer hardware, telecommunications, life sciences and other technology companies, as well as companies involved in alternative energy and more traditional businesses.
Before joining Pierce Atwood in June 2002, Scott was a partner with Hale and Dorr LLP in its Boston, Massachusetts and Reston, Virginia offices.
Scott has acted as counsel to buyers and sellers, issuers, investors and underwriters in numerous private placements, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and public offerings. He has also represented many public companies on an ongoing basis with respect to corporate governance, securities law reporting and compliance and other corporate matters. Scott serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire, where he teaches a course on mergers and acquisitions. Scott is also a member of the firm's Management Committee.
Scott serves on the Board of Trustees of Strawbery Banke Museum, Inc., Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a living history museum in one of Portsmouth's most historic areas.


Scott received his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Boston College Law School, where he was a staff writer and topics editor for the Boston College Law Review. He received a B.S. in Foreign Service, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where he was named a School of Foreign Service Scholar.
