Norman is the firm's Director of Information Technology. In that capacity, Norman is responsible for technology management and strategic planning, vendor negotiations, business continuity and continuous research in technology trends that will improve attorneys' services to clients.
Norman's technology background spans 20 years and involves development of business and engineering applications, design of voice and data networks, managing a Private Branch Exchange (PBX), vendor management, and installation and support of critical business applications.
Prior to joining Pierce Atwood in 2005 Norman worked in numerous businesses, which include shipbuilding, healthcare, the Department Of Defense and social services all within the scope of technology.
- Led a major reengineering effort that significantly changed work flow processes and improved business operations and profit margins
- Lead IT Director for MaineHealth's joint Disaster Recovery initiative, which included four hospitals across the state of Maine
- Defined technology requirements for HIPAA compliance efforts in the areas of physical and computer security
- Project leader for Pierce Atwood's written information security program (wisp) to comply with multiple security and data breach regulations, which includes the Commonwealth of Massachusetts CMR 17.0 regulation
- Project leader for the development and implementation of the firm's disaster recovery plan and hot site
- Developed business plan and executed plan to relocate computing environment to a hosted data center
- Managed the outsourced effort to analyze the firm's life cycle management process, which included but not limited to, matter management, records management, retention policies and inactive and closed file management.
