An associate in the Business Group, Nancy has a general corporate and securities law practice concentrated in the areas of private equity, emerging company representation, joint venture arrangements, public and private mergers and acquisitions, and securities law compliance. In addition, Nancy regularly advises clients with regard to business development initiatives, vendor management, technology acquisition, and general corporate governance.
Nancy has counseled clients across a variety of heavily regulated industries, including commercial and consumer finance and health care. She has assisted lenders, originators and marketers with transactions relating to federal and alternative student loans, including the package and sales of alternative student loans in the asset-backed securities markets. In the commercial lending space, she has negotiated commercial purchase account and accepting-merchant agreements as well as program marketing agreements. On the compliance side, she has counseled financial institutions, banking, and commercial lending clients with developing products, services and marketing materials that comply with complicated regulatory schemes, crossing federal and state consumer protections laws as well as marketing and fair trade laws.
Nancy also has experience assisting businesses of all kinds with navigating the ever-growing maze of data privacy and security laws, particularly with regard to internet-based risks. Nancy has represented clients developing online campaigns (including email, social media and testimonials), health care providers (in the development of interactive web sites and patient portals) and recently assisted a state-wide health information exchange to retain vendors for the development of a state-of-the-art network.
Nancy participates in Pierce Atwood's CASA program, representing guardians ad litem in child protection matters. During law school, Nancy was a legal intern to the Hon. Kermit Lipez in the U.S. Court of Appeals Internship Program. Upon graduation from the University of Maine School of Law, she received the Wernick Prize (for excellence in legal writing), the American Bankruptcy Institute's Medal of Excellence, and a Scholastic Achievement Award (for the highest grade point average over three years of study). Prior to pursuing a career in law, Nancy worked for over ten years in the hospitality industry.

- Representation of a commercial finance company in all aspects of business development, including negotiation of a private label purchase account program agreement with a national Fortune 500 merchant, portfolio purchase and conversion agreement with a national Fortune 500 financier, and joint venture agreements with partners across of the building industry
