Acquisition of East Millinocket Mill

We represented the Town of East Millinocket, Maine in its acquisition of the East Millinocket mill, the former Great Northern Paper Co. LLC mill site. The acquisition was the culmination of over a year and half of work by town leaders and a variety of agencies to buy the property.

Plans call for the redevelopment of the 215-acre site – located between Route 157 and the Penobscot River, and only four miles from Interstate 95 – as an industrial complex with several industrial users. The redevelopment will be funded with grants, foundation monies and low-interest loans. Two of the site’s six buildings, the paper and recycling warehouses, will be retained, while the site’s steam plant and biomass facility will be razed. Pierce Atwood will continue to assist the town with the redevelopment process.
