Emily is a member of the firm's Business Practice Group, where her practice focuses on commercial transactions, compliance, and corporate governance for a range of commercial clients, including banks, healthcare organizations, insurance industry participants, and nonprofit entities. She regularly counsels clients with respect to regulatory compliance in the educational and healthcare areas, in addition to traditional corporate and contracts matters.
Prior to joining Pierce Atwood in 2011, Emily was a corporate attorney with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in Washington, DC, where she represented a range of Fortune 100 financial institutions in public and private mergers and acquisitions and financial regulatory matters. During law school, she served as a judicial intern to Judge Stephen J. Glickman of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, DC’s highest court. Before beginning her legal career, Emily worked in international development with The Synergos Institute in New York, where she designed and implemented capacity-building events for grantmaking institutions in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
