Dan is a trial lawyer who focuses on complex business and commercial disputes. Since joining Pierce Atwood in June of 1979, Dan has tried a wide variety of cases in the Maine State and Federal Courts. He has extensive experience litigating business and commercial disputes, state corporate income tax and sales and use tax cases, and complex personal injury cases, including wrongful death and products liability actions.

- Lead trial counsel prosecuting investment suitability claim, resulting in $1.7 million judgment (Nagle v. Middlebury Equity Partners, U.S. District, District of Maine Docket No. 2:09-cv-00031-GZS, Judgment, 2-17-10)
- Lead trial counsel defending debt settlement firm against Unfair Trade Practices claim prosecuted by Maine Attorney General (State of Maine v. Credit Solutions of America, Maine Superior Court Docket No. BCD-WB-CV-10-02 [Phase I tried July 2011])
- Lead trial counsel prosecuting corporate income tax appeal involving issue whether business units were unitary (Gannett Co., Inc. v. State Tax Assessor, Maine Superior Court AP-04-91, Decision, 9 27 07 and Gannett Co., Inc. v. State Tax Assessor, Maine Supreme Judicial Court, Decision, 11-18-08, 2008 ME 171)
- Lead trial counsel prosecuting corporate income tax appeal involving issue of taxable nexus (Avon Products, Inc. v. State Tax Assessor, Maine Superior Court Docket No. BCD-WB-AP-09-11, Decision, 9-10-09)
