As a member of Pierce Atwood's Litigation Practice Group, Ben's personal, hands-on approach has led to great results for clients throughout the country. Ben helps clients navigate each stage of their case, providing not only legal guidance and advocacy but ensuring the client fully understands each step of the process. Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Ben served as a law clerk for the Hon. John A. Woodcock, Jr., United States District Court for the District of Maine.
Recent Experience
- In a mediation proceeding between a New England based contractor-client and its landlord, Ben helped guide the parties to a mutually satisfactory resolution which resolved the litigation before his client was required to undertake expensive and time consuming discovery.
- Representing a large insurance company, Ben drafted a motion for judgment on the pleadings arguing that the Plaintiff's claims were barred by the doctrine of claim preclusion. The motion was granted and the entire case was resolved in favor of the insurance company.
- In a case involving an insurance coverage dispute, Ben, representing the insurance company, convinced the opposing party to dismiss its complaint and then negotiated a settlement that was a third below the amount approved by the client.
- Ben successfully represented a family from the Democratic Republic of Congo seeking political asylum in their hearing before the U.S. Immigration Court.
