Attorney Carol A. Smoots joins Pierce Atwood LLP as a partner in the firm's Energy Practice Group.  Ms. Smoots will reside in the firm's Washington, DC office.

Ms. Smoots comes to Pierce Atwood with more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry.  She represents energy companies in regulatory proceedings before federal and state regulatory bodies, as well as in domestic and international energy transactions.  Ms. Smoots has a very robust and interesting FERC electricity practice, representing a large number of power marketers and independent power producers.

Ms. Smoots earned a B.A. from Central Washington University and a J.D. from Willamette University College of Law.  She serves as Chairman of the Board for Central Washington University Foundation.
